About Transport in China

Transportation in China has experienced significant growth and expansion in recent years. Airports , roads and railway construction will provide a boost to the massive use in China over the next decade .
Rail
Rail is the primary mode of transport has doubled in length since the mid-twentieth century , and an extensive network provides a service to the entire nation. The major cities have metro systems in operation, under construction or in the planning stage .

The system of highway and the road has also increased due to the rapid expansion , resulting in a rapid increase in car use in China. Although the transport system in China has a vast network of transport nodes across its vast territory , the nodes tend to concentrate in the more economically developed coastal areas and inland cities along major rivers .
Physical state and the entire transport infrastructure in China tend to vary widely by geography. While remote rural areas still depend largely on non-mechanized means of transport, a modern system of maglev train in China was built to connect the city center of Shanghai and its international airport .
Much of the transport systems of contemporary China have been built since the establishment of the People's Republic in 1949. Before 1950 , there were only 21800 km ( 13.546 km ) of track. In 2010 , the rail network has since been expanded to 91000 km ( 56,545 mi) .
Train travel has remained the most popular form of transport , even if the airline has also experienced significant growth since the late 1990s. The effort by the government - which began in the 1990s - to connect the country highways through the "National Trunk Highway System " has expanded the network to about 97000 km ( 60,273 miles ) by the end the year 2012 [ 3] making the longest road network in the world China
